According to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin today, the April 15th tax deadline is being extended to July 15th. Earlier this week, he had announced a 90 day deferral for payments, but at that time they had not extended the filing date.
Taxpayers can still request a six-month extension to file returns, like they could in any other year.
The new tax deadline applies to federal tax returns due on April 15th only. It is up to states to set their own deadlines. As of now Pennsylvania has not made any announcements as to the whether the April 15th filing deadline will be extended, or whether any payments due on April 15th will be deferred.
