Taxpayers should take some security steps during the holidays
The Pennsylvania Dept. of Revenue (PDOR) is warning taxpayers to take a few basic security steps during the holidays. They include shopping at websites where the Web address begins with “https,” and avoiding shopping on unsecured public Wi-FI, where thieves can tap in. Also, you should secure your home Wi-Fi with a password, use security software for computers and mobile phones and keep it updated. Don’t give out personal information and protect your online accounts with strong and unique passwords. PDOR and the IRS will never call demanding immediate payment. If you get such a call, assume it is a scam and hang up. For more safety tips, visit https://bit.ly/2rIDfZc.
